Maj Sjöwall (born September 25, 1935 in Stockholm) is a Swedish author and translator. She is best known for the collaborative work with her partner Per Wahlöö on a series of ten novels about the exploits of Martin Beck, a police detective in Stockholm. In 1971, the fourth of these books, ''The Laughing Policeman'' (a translation of ''Den skrattande polisen'', originally published in 1968) won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Novel and was adapted into the film ''The Laughing Policeman'' starring Walter Matthau. They also wrote novels separately. Sjöwall had a 13-year relationship with Wahlöö which lasted until his death in 1975.〔(The queen of crime, The Observer ) Sunday 22 November 2009〕 She is a former Marxist, as was Wahlöö: the last Martin Beck novel, ''The Terrorists'', ends with the phrase, "X as in Marx."〔 Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö (1975), trans., Joan Tate, ''The Terrorists'', 1978 reprint, New York: Vintage, Ch. 29, p. 347, ISBN 0-394-72452-6.〕 == See also == *Sjöwall and Wahlöö *Per Wahlöö *Martin Beck 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Maj Sjöwall」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
